The Better World Show #001 - Why We Care
Welcome to the mind-splitting first episode of The Better World Show! Join Scott Sherman and Cameron Reilly as we go on a journey of discovery. In each episode we will be taking a major issue facing the world today - it might be Iraq or terrorism or Sudan or third world debt or gay marriage - and inviting guests who are experts in the field to help us understand the issue and, most importantly, what we can do as individuals to make the world a better place.
The inspiration for the show is R. Buckminster Fuller’s lifelong experiment to discover what one person what do to improve humanity’s condition that large organizations, governments, or private enterprises inherently could not do.
In this first episode, Scott and Cameron discuss their individual motivations for wanting to make the world a better place.

Very thought provoking show! I will be interested to see where you take the show and how it will evolve.
Also wanted to pass on one of my favorite sites related to the topics which you may cover on the show. Tree Hugger may be a little bit out there for you but has some interesting articles no less.

Great start you guys. You’re tackling a large subject. Anything global seems out of reach for the little guy. How about some social network, or references to a network, that will allow people who listen to the podcast participate in solutions to the issues you address?
I hope this show is as successful as your other shows.

I suggest an episode on Leave No Trace. I’ve thought it could be a good educational podcast topic. The challenge is making it interesting for a broader audience. It is a topic that everybody can contribute to, in the front country (city parks, for example), as well as the backcountry (wilderness in the states and the outback down under). I’ve been passionate about the subject for 40 years and continue to lecture on the subject for our local Mountaineers branch. If ever interested, I’d be happy to help direct you other resources. You can check out http://www.lnt.org as one resource. I wrote Chapter 7 of the latest “Freedom of the Hills” for The Mountaineers on the subject. Good luck with the new ‘cast. Steve

Interesting idea for a show, I can see it either being greatly successful or completely down and out.

Hi Cameron Reily,
Congratulations to you for starting your new Podacst - The Better World Show. I am one of those silent listeners, but your subject matter for this Podcast has made me write a response. Great work, congratulations. One of my friends is running a charitable school in a very rural village in India. He has been successfully running a computer training school for the past 3 years, to teach computer literacy to village children. You can visit his website at http://sacredtrust.in/ His name is Dr. Vasudev a Geologist working as a specialist consultant to a company in Australia. The contact details of this charitable work are given in his website. I think he is doing something that will create a better world.
With best wishes and kind regards,
Dr. Raja Cavale.
